AFC Wimbledon full-back Luke Garrard believes the Dons will rip teams apart in the Blue Square South - provided they can win promotion this season.

The 22-year-old former Swindon Town trainee delivered a man of the match performance as boss Terry Brown's men hit struggling Wealdstone for six on Tuesday.

Strikes from Luis Cumbers, Steve Ferguson, Daniel Webb, Tony Finn, Rob Quinn and Mark Da Bolla saw the Dons notch their fourth straight win with the 6-1 romp.

And Garrard thinks they have every chance of repeating the rich vein of form next season if they can get out of Ryman League Premier Division at the third time of asking.

"With the standard of players we have got here I believe we could go for promotion in the Blue Square South next season, maybe even automatic promotion," he said.

"That league suits us. It suits our game. It suits the way we play with our fluidity up front and the movement from our wingers.

"Hampton have done it with a more direct style. I believe if we went up this year and then play how we did tonight we will rip teams apart.

"We have got to get out of this league as soon as possible."

Garrard returned to action against Harrow Borough having spent six weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Since then the Dons have scored 15 goals - conceding just one - and the former Northwood skipper thinks there is more to come from him ahead of Saturday's trip to Heybridge Swifts.

"I believe I am two or three games off my best form," he added.

"With time and with the games coming so quickly, it is better for me that I'm playing rather than sitting on the bench or in the stands injured.

"It would have been nice to have a fourth clean sheet on the bounce. It hasn't happened, but obviously we are still in a good run of form."
