AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown wants his players to evoke memories of the Crazy Gang to pull off a cup upset at Kingsmeadow tomorrow.

Dons take on Blue Square Premier high-flyers Torquay United on the back of a run of four games without a win following Tuesday's 1-0 defeat to Boreham Wood.

Brown, already without goalkeeper Andy Little, Luke Garrard, and Michael Haswell, faces a race against time to have Jason Goodliffe and Jake Leberl fit to join Antony Howard in a makeshift defence.

Former Don Roscoe Dsane and 14-goal ex-Kingstonian hitman Tim Sills are likely to spearhead Torquay's attack for the biggest game in AFC's six-year history.

"This will be an enjoyable one-off occasion for the players," said Brown.

"One thing I can assure the fans is that every player who pulls on a blue shirt will run their socks off," he said.

"I will put my physically strongest side out.

"I am not going to be rolled over at home and I want players out there prepared to put a foot in.

"It might not be pretty, but the fans have watched some pretty stuff from us before where we haven't been committed.

"I think what the fans want now is a bit of the old Wimbledon spirit."

Brown's team have played 11 games since December 22 and he believes his stretched resources are a symptom of the strain taking its toll.

But he made no excuses for Tuesday's below par display.

"We didn't play very well," said Brown.

"Over the past 10 days squad players have had the chance to prove themselves and they haven't been good enough."
