Thomas Frank was insistent Cardiff City’s Will Vaulks should’ve seen red as Brentford’let a two goal lead slip in South Wales.

With the Bees in control inside 20 minutes thanks to goals from Luca Racic and Bryan Mbeumo, Vaulks looked to have thrust his knee and palm to the head of Christian Norgaard who lay on the deck after a good challenge on the Bluebird’s midfielder.

The altercation seemed to be a turning point for City who drew level thanks to goals from Junior Hoilett and Joe Ralls before the break.

“You saw how close I was, if you saw the reaction from our bench, you know,” he said.

“Normally if it’s 50/50 situation I don’t complain, one of my staff members will complain, but you can just see the whole, excuse my language, f***ing bench, they were jumping up.

“If you see that it’s probably because something is wrong.

“For me it’s 100% clear red card.”

Referee Simon Hooper gave Vaulks a talking to but ultimately allowed play to go on with a throw-in to Cardiff.

The incident right infront of the dugout and the fourth official was the talking point of a feisty affair in South Wales, but Frank would not blame the man in the middle for the eventual result.

“When I’m in a press conference, I very rarely complain about the ref, it’s never their reason why we are losing or dropping points.

“I’ll never complain.

“I think there’s a penalty to them at the end actually.

“But this, when it’s a clear red card and they don’t do anything about it, I mean, come on.

“He put his knee down and he forced it down in the grass, I think there’s still a hole down there!

“What can he (Hooper) do if he hasn't seen it? If he hasn’t seen it he has to rely on the fourth official and the linesman.

“They should’ve seen it, whether the fourth official or linesman is too soft I don’t know.”

Frank did see positives in the result and commended his side’s ability to bounce back after their disappointing 2-1 defeat at Luton midweek.

“I’m pleased with attitude and mentality of my players after defeat at Luton.

“We totally dominated the game from the first second.

“Up 2-0 they don’t have a chance and then they score a very good goal.

Then it got played on Cardiff’s terms then they equalised before the half, where we need to do better because we now it’s a strength for them.

“Having that punch in the face of being 2-0 up and going 2-2, but we came back well second half.

“Overall I’m satisfied, we came here to try and dominate and win the game.

“What Cardiff are good at they did well, what we are good at we did well, but when you’re 2-0 up I think we should still win.”
