Here is how we rated Millwall's players in their defeat to Sheffield United:

Bartosz Bailkowski – 7

He could do nothing about either goals but stopped it from becoming embarrassing in the final minutes with two outstanding saves.

Murray Wallace – 6

Solid all afternoon and often found himself providing a helping hand to his centre-backs in the box. He also showed he can whip a ball into the box on numerous occasions.

Jake Cooper – 5

Twice he allowed Sharp to hold up the ball and lay off to his teammates for both of the goals. Given how long his legs are he easily could have wrapped them around the striker and poked the ball away. Not his best performance in a Millwall shirt.

Alex Pearce – 6

Given Sharp’s height he won his aerial duels but Leon Clarke’s introduction in the second half gave him a headache.

James Brown – 7

With it being his first start since October 2016 you would have thought he would have been spraying himself with some WD-40 before today’s game but there were no signs of rust. Defended well and made a goalline clearance.

Shane Ferguson – 6

A usual nuisance to down that left-flank and aided Wallace in taming Luke Freeman. However, his end product was non-existent so his work rate went to the waste.

Jayson Molumby – 7

Hopefully, Brighton were not watching because this performance showed that he can go toe to toe with Premier League opposition. Played like a hunting dog who had just been let off the leash. His energy levels are phenomenal and he doesn’t ever stop.

Billy Mitchell – 7

Stepped up to the challenge of competing against an experienced Sheffield United midfield. Made a darting run down the left flank in the first half which revelled the crowd and epitomised his performance.

Connor Mahoney – 5

Showed how quick his feet can be at times but his deliveries were awful. When Harris signed him in the summer on the back off the ‘most crosses in the Championship last season’ tag did he check to see if any met his desired target?

Aiden O'Brien - 5

Another game which he failed make an impression. If he isn’t scoring he really does not contribute much to the team. Fluffed a perfect opportunity in the first half to put Millwall ahead.

Matt Smith – 6

With the service being as dire as it was, a man of his stature can only do a few things. That is holding up the ball, press, and battle. He did all three.
