Millwall’s injury time equaliser against Nottingham Forest proves what a ‘tough nut to crack’ the Lions are according to Alex Pearce.

Aiden O’Brien’s 93rd minute strike at The Den on Friday night salvaged a draw for Gary Rowett’s side after surrendering a goal lead.

The Lions skipper, although disappointed in conceding two second half Lewis Grabban goals, felt his side showed their metal against a side fighting for promotion.

“We’re proving a hard team to beat.” Pearce said.

“It’s another point on the board but I’m not sure how to feel, whether it’s a point dropped or a point gained.

“But going into the 90th minute 2-1 down, we’ve got to look at the positives.”

Pearce felt the opening 45 minutes showcased all that was good with Millwall.

However, despite being completely dominant they were only a Shaun Williams’ header up at the break.

“We were outstanding, we looked bright, moved it quickly, which we’ve tried to put into our games.

“We created a lot, looked threatening from set plays and thought going into the break we should’ve been out of sight.

“At 1-0 you’re always in danger, and against a top side you knew they’d have a spell and they did that second half, and performed better than us to be honest.

“I will say the character we showed and the never say die attitude was fantastic.”

Quizzed on why he felt the second Forest gained the upper hand the 31-year-old’s reply was instant.

“The quality they brought on.

“Two players, Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban.

“Proven quality.

“They were a real threat when they came on, we really needed to be on our toes.

“But we’ve got to look at our second half performance, we could’ve had more control, we didn’t keep the ball well enough compared to the first half, but we showed massive character to come back.”
