Crystal Palace have identified Irishman Andy Lyons as the solution to their right-back worries.
The Eagles have been monitoring the 18-year-old’s progress at League of Ireland’s Bohemians and are thought to be in tussle with Wolves and AFC Wimbledon to land the teenager.
According to The Irish Sun, Lyons would be the long-term replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka whose position they’ve failed to fill since his £50million departure to Manchester Untied in the summer.
Joel Ward has deputised aptly at right-back this season, but reports that he is to miss much of December with a knee injury has magnified Palace’s need to sign a defender.
Lyons, who’s represented the Republic Of Ireland at youth level, made 26 appearances for Bohemians with whom he’s under contract with until for the upcoming campaign.
Lyons had apparently impressed on trial at Wolves last season, while Bohemians reportedly turned down offers from Wimbledon earlier this year.
Palace travel to Watford this weekend where Martin Kelly is likely to deputise for the injured Joel Ward.
