Here’s how we rated Crystal Palace’s players in their defeat against Leicester City.

Vicente Guaita – 7 –

Pulled off a number of saves to keep Palace in the contest, particularly to deny Jamie Vardy from close range in the first half.

Joel Ward – 5 –

Without McArthur helping him Harvey Barnes would have run riot as the youngster showed flair on the counter which left Ward bewildered.

James Tomkins – 6 –

Looked the most content out of Palace’s defence but even he had a few ponderous moments which would have led to goals if it was not for Guaita’s heroics.

Gary Cahill – 6 –

An aerially-complete performance by the former Chelsea man but Vardy’s speed exploited the aging defender’s weakness in close encounters.

Patrick van Aanholt – 5 –

After starting the season well, his performance levels have fallen dramatically in recent weeks and today was no different.

Luka Milivojevic – 7 –

He took the game to Leicester’s midfield trio by pressing them into mistakes or cutting them out completely with pin-point passes.

Cheikhou Kouyate – 5 -

Failure to communicate with his teammate led to Leicester’s opener as he and Van Aanholt were both easily beaten at the front post by James Madison’s average corner.

James McArthur – 7 –

Who says you cannot teach an old dog new tricks? The 32-year-old revealed he is growing into his role on the right of midfield by carrying out a few stepovers all while helping out his fullback.

Wilfried Zaha – 7 –

Whether it be beating his man or releasing the ball he made all the right decisions at the right times. A constant thorn in Leicester’s backside.

Jeffrey Schlupp – 5 –

He must have forgotten to change out of his Halloween costume before the match as he carried out a ghostly performance against his former side. Non-existent.

Jordan Ayew – 6 –

A completely different player to what was at Selhurst Park last season. He is full of confidence and it showed through his constant drives which carried his team up the field countless times.

Max Meyer - 5

James McCarthy - 5

Christian Benteke - 5
