Sutton United boss Ernie Howe has revealed he hopes to unveil some fresh faces at Gander Green Lane ahead of Saturday's trip to second-placed Lewes.
The 54-year-old, who officially succeeded Ian Hazel this week, watched his side succumb 2-0 to a full-strength Woking side in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday night.
Howe, who saw striker Craig Watkins quit the club for Havant & Waterlooville on Wednesday, has claimed his squad doesn't need a major overhaul to avoid relegation.
But after defensive lapses cost his side against the Cards he has admitted he has hardly put the phone down in his attempts to bring in re-inforcements.
"We worked hard but there was just no end product which I think has been the story of the season, " he said.
"Once we score a couple of goals and get a couple of results under our belts that will make a big difference to us.
"I got a good look at the players but it doesn't take a scientist to work out what needs to be done.
"My phone hasn't stopped. I've been approaching mostly Blue Square Premier sides and I've got a couple of things lined up that should hopefully come off before the weekend."
