Millwall’s Adam Barrett is unsure whether he will remain at the club as the Lions look for Neil Harris’s permanent replacement.

Following Harris’s departure Barrett has taken temporary charge of the side for the 2-1 win over Leeds and their 3-2 defeat at Brentford on Saturday.

As speculation continues as to who will be the next permanent manager, the former Southend, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth man said he’s unsure whether he will remain at the club in any capacity if he's not given the top job.

Barrett has been first team development coach with The Den outfit since March 2017 before taking the reins earlier this month.

“I honestly don’t know, I haven’t been told,” he said.

“I don’t know what the situation is.

“All I was told was to prepare the team for the Leeds and Brentford games.

“The work behind the scenes and the application from players and staff has been outstanding for the last two weeks.

“We’ve worked extremely hard and tried to prepare the team as best as we can. Everyone’s done that.

“As far as moving forward I don’t know what the situation.

“I’ve been concentrating day-to-day making sure we’ve been preparing as best we can.

“I’ve been asked to take care of the team and that’s what I’ve done.

“That’s all I’ve been focused on.”

Barrett has gone to second favourite to make the post his permanently with bookmakers, with Gary Rowett remaining the bookies’ leading contender.
