Carshalton Athletic have now completed their pre-season schedule as the club now turns its attentions to the real business of league football this weekend, writes James Barrett-Sterling.

The Robins suffered mixed fortunes during their seven friendlies as, while they only lost one of those games, they drew three matches by virtue of conceding several late goals.

While pre-season results are ultimately immaterial, Carshalton fans will no doubt hope that trend doesn't continue when their heroes begin the new Isthmian Premier League season with a trip to Hertfordshire this coming Saturday.

Some confidence would've been restored last weekend however as a late winner by Raheem Sterling-Parker ensured a 4-3 win over visiting Maldon and Tiptree, a goal that was also the club's sixteenth over the course of the schedule.

Other familiar faces on the scoresheet that day included Omar Koroma, Ricky Korboa and Ola Sogbanmu but full back Jordan Cheadle went off after suffering an injury during the first-half.

Cheadle now joins fellow defender Luke Read and forward Tommy Bradford in a race to be fit for the club's opening league game away at Potters Bar Town.

The two clubs finished at opposite ends of the table last season as the Robins, whom finished in second place, registered one of their six 'league doubles' by beating the Scholars 1-0 both home and away.

Carshalton's first home league game of the season is on Monday 12th August against East Thurrock United whom were relegated from the National South last season (kick-off 7.45pm).
