Hercules Wimbledon’s Richard McDowell and his young son Wilfred are hoping to have made it into the Guinness Book of Records after they finished 10th out of 189 runners in the Sri Chimney 5km in Battersea Park on Monday night in 16 minutes 11 seconds with dad pushing his son round in a pushchair. “We will have to wait to find out if it's accepted and verified etc. I’m fairly happy as the goal was to get close to 16 minutes,” said dad Richard.

One of Hercules Wimbledon’s youngest athletes, Mabel-Rose Scales bounced back from a hip problem to help Surrey to second place in the girls’ match at the Derek Crookes under 13 Inter-Counties meeting at Kingsmeadow on Saturday. However, she had to settle for second place clearing 1.46m, compared with her best this season of 1.60m.

She was in action again on Sunday, along with her younger sister, Willow, in the South London Athletics Network open meeting at Woodcote School, Coulsdon.

She competed in the 70m hurdles where she ran a creditable 13.4 seconds, long jumped 4.37 metres and putt the shot getting out to 5.27 metres.
