Former Brentford midfielder Lewis Macleod is on the verge of signing for Wigan Athletic.
The Scotsman is a free agent. after being released by the Bees at the end of last season.
The Latics are thought to have won the race for the 25-year-old beating off competition from his former employers Rangers and a host of Championship clubs.
Macleod arrived at Griffin Park in 2015 from Rangers for a fee believed to be around £850k and had went on to make over 40 appearances for the Bees, scoring four goals.
His last appearance for the Brentford was, coincidentally, against Wigan at the DW Stadium in March.
With 18 appearances and three goals last season, it was a surprise to many the Thomas Frank allowed the midfielder leave the club.
Macleod also represented Scotland at every level up to Under-21s, and received his first senior call-up for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Ireland and friendly against England.
