Sutton & District AC's Harry Aikines-Aryeetey says he going to take a deserved rest before continuing preparing for next month's all-important British Championships and World Trials, writes Ziad Chaudry.

Since I last spoke to the much-travelled sprinter in Hengelo, Holland last month, the ever smiling 30-year-old Team GB multi-medalist competed in six races around Europe with the best of the lot was at Resisprint International in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland where he posted 10.00 secs in men's 100m despite being wind assisted.

I caught up with Aikines-Aryeetey at Marseille International Athletics Meeting Athlè Pro Tour last Thursday at Stade Delort, Marseille, France and despite declining his place in the final due to tiredness the Sutton man came through the heats which he described as 'a blanket finish' in 10.38.

"I went 10 flat wind assisted and then went 10.13 later on so that's the fastest I've gone for a little while," Aikines-Atyeetey said about his two races in Switzerland.

"Obviously a week before that I went 10.11 in Berlin, Germsny so I feel like I'm putting in good races together."

"Here in Marseille it's all about race experience. I've come on the back of four really good runs."
