Here’s how we rated Brentford’s players…

Luke Daniels – 6 – Made a few good saves but, because of how poor Preston were in attack, he didn’t have a lot to do.

Henrik Dalsgaard – 7 – Was originally stationed out wide in a wing back berth but was brought into the centre after Jeanvier’s injury. Solid performance.

Ezri Konsa – 8 – Looked comfortable and at ease in the centre of the pitch, hardly put a foot wrong all game. Perhaps the best showing of the three centre backs. Took his strike well.

Julian Jeanvier – N/A – His first action of the game landed him with a head injury and he was stretchered off after 12 minutes of stoppage in play.

Luka Racic – 6 – Made a couple poor passes early on, looked nervous. Nearly grabbed a debut goal. Got better as the game went on, a decent debut.

Rico Henry – 8 – One of the Brentford’s best players on the pitch throughout the afternoon, given acres of space to run into by Preston. Effective at both ends of the pich.

Josh Dasilva – 7.5 – Ran the midfield really well with Marcondes, he looks like he’s getting better with every game he plays in.

Emiliano Marcondes – 7 – Not as influential going forward as he would’ve liked or wanted to be, was more proactive in his defending. Assisted the Forss goal.

Sergi Canos – 8 – Laid on assists for the Konsa and Maupay goals, a very impressive performance. Replaced by Forss on 79 minutes.

Ollie Watkins – 6 – While the winger was involved a lot in attacking moves he didn’t have a lot of clear chances and struggled a little in being clinical enough.

Neal Maupay – 7 – Could – and maybe should – have had a hattrick. Scored the first and then twice went close to getting a brace. Grew into the game after being very subdued.
