Sutton Common Rovers picked up a point in their penultimate Combined Counties Premier Division fixture of the season, when drawing 0-0 away at Colliers Wood Utd in an enjoyable game on a blisteringly hot Saturday.

With a semi-final on Tuesday managers Darren Salmon and Donny Rennalls made numerous changes handing first starts of the season to veteran keeper Dave Hill, and youngsters Jevontae Hylton and Charlie Alexiou.

Colliers had the better of the opening period, but after quarter of an hour Rovers started to get on top. Guy Baskerville thumped a header against a post,, Brendan Murphy-McVey bought a good save out of stand-in Colliers keeper Dan Hughes, and Craig Nelson saw a header cleared off the line.

At the other end, Hill got down well to save a low strike from William Efambe, as Colliers dominated the latter part of the half. Rovers almost snatched the lead with the last action of the half, but having been gifted possesion by Luke Tan, Marlon Pinder put his effort wide.

The second half saw Rovers dominate much of the play, but still having to be wary of the lively Colliers forwards. Rovers went closest to opening the scoring when Kery Kedze drifted passed a couple of players but was denied by a superb Hughes save. At the other end, both Ali Fofanah and Kristian Campbell bore down on the Rovers goal, with only superb defending by Hylton preventing a shot on target.

The final chance fell to Phil Page, but his thumping header was headed over the bar by Adam Snook, and despite the sides best efforts in the heat, the game finished scoreless.
