Lewis Page is back.

The left-back played for an hour in Charlton’s development squads 3-0 win over Burnley at The Valley on Tuesday.

Sidelined with a groin injury since October the 22-year-old now feels he’s ready to make a return to the first team starting with Friday’s trip to Oxford.

“I’d like to think I can be involved,” he told the club.

“That’s obviously not up to me, that’s up to Lee [Bowyer], so, we’ll have to see.

“I think I did OK today, showed that I’ve still got some fitness.

“I’ll just leave it up to him and do all I can.

“It was great to be back.”

'Kicked On'

The left-back berth had been an issue for Bowyer this season when Page was ruled out.

Chris Solly deputised in the role before Ben Purrington was drafted in on loan and has since been an ever present in the team.

Page, who signed a contract extension with the Addicks in November, admits it hasn’t been an easy road back to this point but now feels ready to offer Purrington competition for a place in Bowyer’s plans.

“The last month or so I’ve really kicked on, I’ve been out on the grass for about three weeks and done a lot of runs back in training with the boys, so hopefully I’ll get back in and around it soon.

“It hasn’t been easy trying to speed things up so I’m back before the end of the season. “I’ve had this aim to get back, and luckily I am now, so hopefully I can stay fit and help the boys to seal promotion.
