It’s a list no player wants to be on, but a former Crystal Palace idol has made it into the top 15 Premiership own-goals ever.
Following Keiron Trippier’s spectacular own-goal in Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, people are discussing the 'greatest' clangers in the Premiership.
Football magazine FourFourTwo have released their list of comedy howlers and Tony Popovic’s clinical strike in 2004 whilst playing Portsmouth at Fratton Park came in at number 15.
Whilst the magazine described the exquisite touch as the ‘most aesthetically pleasing’ on the list, Popovic I’m sure won’t agree.
Set up by Pompey winger Steve Stone’s cross, the Australian centre-half back-flicked the ball goalward, hitting the woodwork before going in, leaving a fresh faced and long-haired Julian Speroni biting his bottom lip.
Popovic’s reaction is an image that has adorned many a football blooper reel since.

The magazine voted Sun Hei centre-back Festus Baise's spectacular scorpion kick which went flying passed his own keeper in top spot.
