Charlton welcome a Blackpool side who’s off-field problems don’t seem to be affecting them on the field.

Unbeaten in six league matches, The Tangerines come to The Valley on the back of a well-earned point at promotion chasing Sunderland.

With a game in hand over Charlton they know a victory over Lee Bowyer’s side will put them just five points behind the Addicks and in with a real chance of gate crashing the play-off party.

Bowyer’s men meanwhile have not won in three outings, coincidentally the length of time starman Lyle Taylor has been watching from the sidelines.

The Addicks will be hoping the return of their mercurial forward will give them the boost they need to put end their winless streak.

In the reverse fixture in early December Charlton left Bloomfield Road were left pointless after an 87minute Nathan Delfouneso strike.

Star Man - Armand Gnanduillet

News Shopper:

The French forward seems to have found his goal scoring boots of a few months back.

Netting in the impressive draw at The Stadium of Light the 27-year-old took his tally to seven for the season.

Gnanduillet is the leading striker but is suitably backed up by former Aston Villa forward Nathan Delfouneso.

The Seasiders will need both forward on form if they are to buck the trend and taste victory for the first time in nine trips to The Valley.

The Manager - Terry McPhillips

News Shopper:

McPhillips brings his side to The Valley in good spirits despite a number of injuries and lingering off-field problems.

With the threat of being docked 12 points from the EFL after the Club were put in to receivership McPhillips has kept his players concentrated with the task in hand despite admitting the club ‘is in limbo.’

Speaking of Charlton the manager who has not seen his side taste defeat in seven outings as they push for promotion said:

“I watched them at Fleetwood when the Accrington game was called off and they play football and play a diamond with two up front. I expect a harder game than they gave Fleetwood because they’ll be at home.

“They’ve got some good players, that’s for sure, but we’ll go down there and give them a match,” the manager added.

“We’ve got a few injuries now – I think we’ve got nine first-team players missing. That’s a concern, but it will give somebody else a chance,” the manager said.

“They’re all pretty much ruled out, unless one can come back into the fold. Marc Bola got injured early at Sunderland and Matty Virtue came off injured, while Donervon Daniels didn’t make the squad. Then you’ve got Jay Spearing, Callum Guy, Myles Boney, Jimmy Ryan, Max Clayton and Nick Anderton.

“It’s certainly the most injuries we’ve had. We’ll have to deal with that.”
