Neil Harris confirmed the club are still trying to bring in an attacking player but said “nothing is guaranteed in the January transfer window.”

The Lions have been linked with a range of strikers this window, with the most recent being that of Matt Smith from QPR and Karlan Grant from Charlton, with the latter now locked in talks with Huddersfield Town.

“I've seen us linked with some players, and some I've never heard of, I've got to be honest, and some I'm obviously aware of,” Harris said when asked about recent speculation.

“We've been public enough to say we're trying to bring another attacking player into the group. We've got some injuries. It's a difficult window, January, very difficult.”

Millwall were busy in the opening weeks of the window, with defender Alex Pearce coming in on loan from Derby County and then the return of Ben Marshall from Norwich.

“Looking back now, on the first couple of weeks of it, to bring Alex Pearce and Ben Marshall in with the competition we had for their signatures and the quality they possess, and to fall into our structure, has been phenomenal work behind the scenes to get those done.”

“I'm really pleased with that, but another attacking player, to have that competition and cover until the end of the season, will be important for us.

"Is it guaranteed? No, nothing's guaranteed in the January transfer window. But we'll be doing our best to be able to bring someone in.”

Gregory Deal

Millwall have also offered a new contract to top goal soccer, after his current deal is set to end at in the Summer.

Harris explained that he respects the strikers decision to bide his time on making a decision.

“Lee is fully aware of my position and the club's position – we want him to stay and to be here long term.

"There has been no real speculation around Lee and we would rather keep it that way. We want him to stay but there are a lot of factors.

“A lot of it is family orientated. Lee is a brilliant lad, great pro and has got a beautiful young family. He has got a lot to consider and he has been honest enough to say he will take his time with his considerations and we will follow that as it goes for the rest of the season.”
