Here's how th eplayers rated in Crystal Palace's 2-1 defeat by Watford.

Vicente Guaita

The keeper has the width of the post to thank for keeping Deulofeu and Pereyra’s efforts out having been well beaten. Still looks a little unsure under the high ball but that will come with game time. Areal blow to take to leave the field through injury before the half having taken his chance in Hennessey’s absence. 6

Patrick van Aanholt

The left back was had a quiet first half but came alive in the second. Getting forward and getting beyond Zaha down the flanks he posed an outlet for the winger to exploit. Another solid display and can'r be blamed for the goals. 6

Mamadou Sakho

One heart in mouth where a stray clearance whistled over his own bar in the first half. Battled well against the physical Deeney up front and defended well. On the ball however some of his decision making may be questioned. 5

James Tomkins

Unlucky not to score, drawing a good save from Foster in the first half. May have done better for both Watford’s goals having lost Cathcart for the opener and only managing a poor clearance for Cleverley’s rocket. 5

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

I’m fed up of saying how good the youngster is. But he never puts a foot wrong. Clearly he likes to attack, but he also loves to defend. Managed to keep the usually effective Pereyra quiet for large spells. 7

Cheikhou Kouyate

Took a knock in the opening challenge and the crowd gasped knowing his influence on this side. Capable of relieving pressure with his powerful running from deep with the ball. Competed well against the combative Doucoure, Capoue and Sema in the middle. 6

Luka Milivojevic

Deliveries were poor from the captain, and he’ll know that. Had one spectacular effort well saved but other than that looked a frustrated figure in the middle of the park as he went about his defensive duties. 5

James McArthur

Came within a whisker of scoring moments after going behind. Other than that it was a quoet game from the Scotsman who had a hand in keeping Pereyra quiet with Wan-Bissaka.6

Wilfried Zaha

The winger’s missed chance was crucial. Ben Foster came out on top in the one v one duel that could’ve buried the game for Palace. All the trickery in the world but fans are now starting to question end product from the talented wide-man. 6

Andros Townsend

Endless running from the winger but Watford were aware of his shooting threat and never showed him inside. Managed a few decent crosses which caused issues once Benteke came on the pitch. 6

Jordan Ayew

Playing with confidence the forward put in a shift despite not causing too much damage. Could be praised for the goal mouth scramble that caused the opener but offered little else in terms of a goal threat. 6

Subs:

Wayne Hennessey

Came on for the injured Guaita. Looked suspicious under the high-ball, and questions will be asked for Watford equaliser. 4

Christian Benteke

Still finding his way but a real presence in the box that Palace were lacking. 6
