Roy Hodgson has been handed a double injury blow ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Saturday.

Vicente Guaita looks set to start in goal for Crystal Palace tomorrow as Wayne Hennessey has been ruled out.

Speaking on Friday afternoon, Palace manager Hodgson revealed that Hennessey is still sidelined by the back spasm which caused him to miss out in the 1-0 Leicester win last Saturday.

"He tried to train yesterday and it went ok, but he needs a couple more days and he should be in training for Monday,” Hodgson said.

Guaita was making his league debut for the Eagles last Saturday and came in for praise, notably for his superb save from a Jamie Vardy close-range effort.

Martin Kelly has also been ruled with an abductor injury which will come as a blow to the 28-year-old after impressing in the clean sheet last week. Having waited for his opportunity with James Tomkins

Fortunately, Tomkins is available for selection after serving his match ban, and it looks like it will be a straight shoot-out between him and Scott Dann in partnering Mamadou Sakho at the back.

"He carried on playing in the game and that went well but the day after the game it was found that he had a slight strain and even though I don't think it will keep him out for any length of time, it does rule him out of the game tomorrow," said Hodgson, who also updated on the fitness of one of his midfielders.

Cheikhou Kouyaté who left the field early last week is expected to be available as they take on the Premier League holders at the Etihad.
