Player ratings from Palace's 1-0 win over Leicester City.

Vicente Guaita

In for Wayne Hennessey and the Spaniard performed well. Looked a little shaky in his first start and was lucky to get away without conceding a goal in the first half for being caught on the ball. Second half made a great stop from Jamie Vardy to keep The Eagles in front. 8

Patrick van Aanholt

A quiet game for the Dutchman and didn’t get forward as much as he would’ve liked. His job is to defend so any attack should be a bonus, sadly for PvA we’ve come to expect bombing runs down the left. 7

Mamadou Sakho

Stepped up a level as was needed after the last two displays. Playing alongside Martin Kelly he commanded the back line with the authority we’ve come to expect from the Frenchman. Solid performance. 7

Martin Kelly

Stepped in for the suspended James Tomkins and filled the role. Looked composed and assured in possession and handled Vardy pretty well. One scare where he mis-judged a cross and nearly scored and own goal won’t fill Mr Hodgson with confidence though. 6

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Another solid game from the youngster. What would’ve pleased the manager was his authority in defence. Learning that the defending role is paramount before getting forward. Turning in to a real-star. 7

Luke Milivojevic

With no stand-out performers in the game his goal lit up the tie. A great strike from 20-yards will hopefully kick-start his season and turn him in to the player he was last season. 8

Cheikhou Kouyate

Growing in confidence in a Palace shirt and looking more comfortable next to Milivojevic, at £10million Hodgson and Parish should be praised for the signing. In both defence and attack he’s a real weapon on set pieces. Went off injured and his absence was missed as Palace were on the back foot after that.7

Max Meyer

Showed glimpses of quality in tight spaces but had little runners to provide those passes he’s capable of. Would benefit from a more central role as he looks isolated out on the left. 7

James McArthur

He’s a true grafter. He’s not a winger but he’s performed impeccably on the right for Hodgson. He lacks pace and the delivery of a true winger but the Scotsman always pops up in dangerous positions, Possibly Palace’s best player on the day. 8

Andros Townsend

A quiet game by his standards but was given very little to work with. A lone battle up-front and had to work for every touch. He’ll be counting down the days until Benteke is back ready. 6

Jordan Ayew

I dread to think how bad Alexander Sorloth is if Ayew is getting another game after this performance. Careless in possession and looks nervous on every touch. He’ll need a goal soon but even that may not save his Palace career. 4

Subs:

Jeffrey Schlupp-

Came on for Kouyate and occupied the left flank. Offered more pace then Meyer who scuttled to the right but Palace as a whole were on the back foot for much of the second half. 6

Alexander Sorloth-

Replaced Ayew and offered more of a target but it was a defensive showing in the last 20 minutes where the Dane played his part. 5
