The January transfer window looms and already there’s been names mentioned, forgotten, and mentioned again about coming through the Selhurst Park doors.

Many of the names we’ve already discussed such as Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Danny Welbeck, and Victor Moses have slowly gathered momentum but we’ll have to wait and see whether anything happens come January 1st.

That doesn’t stop the rumour mill circulating of others coming to the club.

With the four below players all plying their trade in the Premier League and out of contract in the summer, it could make for a great bit of business for Steve Parish and Roy Hodgson.

Fire Power

Daniel Sturridge-

Lying 17th and having scored just eight goals this term a striker is surely top of Hodgson’s wish list, and in Sturridge they could find the solution.

Clearly disappointed in lack of game time at Liverpool the former Chelsea man wouldn’t fear a loan-move. His stint at West Brom didn’t go to plan but the quality and finishing he has would surely be welcome at The Eagles.

At 29 he wants games, and Palace who’ve lost Christian Benteke long-term and Connor Wickham’s injury nightmare continuing Sturridge would be a stellar signing surely?

Olivier Giroud-

Or, how about another man who is keen on the capital?

Any Chelsea fan will tell you he’s been their best striker this season so it’s no surprise that he’s getting frustrated backing up a miss-firing Alvaro Morata. With his contract up in the summer, Chelsea may want to cash in to a club who’d surely be willing to pay £10million for the proven goal-scorer.

He may prefer a move back to his native France but as we know, football is a funny old game, and surely he could be convinced to hook up with his fellow countryman Mamadou Sakho.

Let’s be honest, a front three of Giroud, Zaha, and Townsend sounds exciting.

What about cover?

With James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho undoubtedly Palace’s first choice centre-half pairing, they were caught short when either got injured.

Looking around there are a number of experienced quality signings available, and better still, on the cheap!

Gary Cahill-

Another Chelsea man looking a certainty to be leaving the Bridge is Gary Cahill. The former Bolton and Aston Villa man has been overlooked by David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger at the back and he must be thinking his time is up.

At 32, he’s surely worth a punt, and I’m pretty sure Hodgson is a big admirer of the no-nonsense leader.

Long Shot

James Milner-

Palace’s midfielders seem to have been blessed in the injury department this season, but one man who incredibly has not been offered a contract is Liverpool’s James Milner. He could play left back, right back, or in the middle of the park and the experience he’d bring would be invaluable. A born winner, and right now that’s what Hodgson needs.

If Liverpool don’t offer him a contract, there’ll be no shortage of takers for the much-travelled title winner. Surely Mr Hodgson will be in that queue too?
