Crystal Palace and the Holmesdale Fanatics come to agreement

Crystal Palace have announed that next season they will be ‘facilitating a larger and dedicated singing section’ in the Holmesdale Stand.

The news has of course generated mixed reviews as it will require re-seating long serving season ticket holders elsewhere in the ground.

The club have promised to allocate the best alternative seating for those required to move in order to create space for the ‘singing section.’

Discussions between the 200-strong ‘ultras’ and Crystal Palace officials began last season about moving the ‘fanatics’ from block B to a more central block E in order to generate a better atmosphere at Selhurst Park. When neither side would compromise the fanatics disbanded ahead of this season and the effect have been felt in the ground according to many.

The news drew mixed reviews. Steve Marsh said on Twitter:
“You have to admit the atmosphere at home this season has been so much quieter because of it. The atmosphere helps the team and no matter how many there are of them it makes a difference. It gives our home games the edge.”

There were some who did not welcome the news, citing the moving of loyal fans from their customary seats.

Regardless of whether the club are correct in their decision, the overall consensus is that the atmosphere created by the fanatics has been noticeable missed, drawing for fans to now ask if they will return this season now that the ‘dispute’ seems to be resolved.

Palace’s next home game is against Wolves on October 6.
