AFC Wimbledon boss Terry Brown has hinted he could delve into the transfer market in a bid to solve his side's goalscoring problems after the Dons' 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood on Tuesday.

Eugene Ofori's first-half header was enough to consign the Dons to their second straight loss and their fourth Ryman Premier Division match without a win, following Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Harrow Borough.

Worryingly for the Dons chief, his current first choice strike pairing of Richard Jolly and Daniel Webb - who missed a penalty in Tuesday's defeat - have scored just one goal apiece, in the 2-1 win over Wealdstone last month.

Brown has already hinted he may replace Jolly with fans' favourite Richard Butler, but has so far resisted the temptation to wield the axe.

The Kingsmeadow chief has been linked with former Woking striker Michael Charles as he looks to solve his problems in front of goal.

And Brown has indicated that he may be ready to splash the cash.

He said: "We lack a predator. We don't appear to have a natural goalscorer at the moment.

"We are dominating possession in games, we are always camped in the other team's half.

"But we don't have enough guile to break teams down - and that is something I have to look at."

For now, Brown will have to make do with what he has at his disposal.

In the Dons' five league games Brown has made just one change to his starting line-ups, when Karl Beckford replaced the injured Tony Finn in the 1-1 draw against Staines Town.

But the Dons boss admits it may be time to give some of his fringe players a chance to shine.

He said: "There's a need for me to shuffle the pack a little.

"We've got to go back to the drawing board."

The Dons, who lie 13th in the table, travel to struggling Leyton on Saturday.
