AFC Wimbledon are seeking to appoint a chief operating officer to help the executive team manage the increased workload.

This is said to be a result of the new stadium project and the club’s other activities.

The new recruit will report to the chief executive, Erik Samuelson, and take over responsibility for some aspects of the club’s day-to-day running from him.

In addition, they will help plan for the Dons’ move into a new stadium in Plough Lane, Merton.

The search for a suitable candidate will be led by the board of the Dons Trust, which oversees AFC Wimbledon on the behalf of 3,500 shareholding fans.

Matthew Breach, chair of the trust, said: “The workload tackled daily by our existing management team has grown massively in the years since we became a professional club.

“Our ambitious plans for the future mean that additional capacity, skills and experience will be needed.

“We will be looking nationwide to find someone suitably qualified and a top priority will be the need for them to really understand the culture of a fans-owned club.”

Applicants have until September 22 to submit their details and the successful candidate is expected to begin in January.
