Wayne Hennessey will be wearing the gloves for Crystal Palace this weekend despite back-to-back howlers that have cost the Eagles dear.
Alan Pardew confirmed the news ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur’s visit to Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Hennessey has come under-fire after a clanger gifted Aston Villa all three points from a 1-0 defeat, and the Welsh international’s mistake a last weekend opened the floodgates to a 4-0 defeat at Manchester City.
Fans favourite Julian Speroni was on the bench at both City and Villa, and if Hennessey makes another howler this weekend, chances are the two will be swapping places.
Pardew said: “Hennessey will play Saturday, but he's battered and bruised. We've not let him hide, you can't bury your head in the sand.
“You have to have the mentality to get back to your best and I have no doubt he will do.”
He added: “Wayne's a laid back character. He is not the type to be laying awake at night worrying, but I've made him worry.
“He's a good, honest player and he knows he's got to get back to his best.”
