Praise from opposition managers can sometimes be an empty gesture, but Sutton United boss Paul Doswell is taking it to heart.
A Craig McAllister brace, including a wonder back-heel, and a Craig Dundas goal at the Lane secured a 3-0 win over Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday and lifted United into the National League South play-offs, albeit temporarily.
That came on the back of a solid 2-0 win at Bishop's Stortford.
Doswell said: “We’re in a positive mood, and the lads were excellent on Saturday.
“But what really pleases me is that both managers we have beaten in the past two weeks have said that we’re big, we’re physical and we’re a man’s team.
“If that is how people are perceiving us to be, then that is good because in this league you cannot be seen as a walkover.
“I am very pleased with those analogies, and I don’t mean it sarcastically.
“For Lee Bradbury [Havant manager] to say they got outbattled and out-bullied, and that we had some good football ability, is a compliment to us.”
