Former Club Captain Andre Vos is one of 10 players who will be leaving NEC Harlequins at the end of the season.

The 32-year-old will retire from the game after Saturday's clash with Sale Sharks at the Twickenham Stoop (3pm).

Vos joined Quins in November 2002 and captained the team to victory in the 2003-04 European Challenge Cup.

He also led the side to victory in National Division One and the Powergen National Trophy last season.

Vos missed just one of Quins 22 matches in the Premiership during the 2003-04 campaign and Saturday's game against Sale will be his 139th appearance for the Club.

"It has been a fantastic five years of my life," said Vos.

"I know some people say I retired from the international game at a relatively young age, but it is a decision I've never regretted as I've been made to feel completely welcome at Quins from the day I arrived right through to now.

"I have loved the experience and the people I've had a chance to work with."

"Saturday is going to be an emotional day as playing rugby is all I've done for so many years and I'm going to be saying goodbye to some great people.

"However, I'm excited about the future for Quins as we've got a great deal of young talented players coming through, while Dean Richards is a very astute man who will develop what we've achieved this season."

In addition to Vos, centre Mel Deane is ending his four-year stay at the Club to join Irish province Connacht.

The 32 year-old centre joined Quins from Sale in March 2003 and was a key figure in Quins successful European Challenge Cup campaign over the 2003-04 season, scoring tries in the victories over Montauban and Connacht.

Deane also played a big part in helping Quins to win the National Division One league title and Powergen National Trophy last season, making a total of 24 appearances.

Andrew Mehrtens' Quins career is coming to an end after this weekend.

Having joined the Club in the summer of 2005, he scored 225 points in 25 games last season.

But a mixture of knee and hamstring injuries have restricted the former New Zealand international to just eight appearances in the Guinness Premiership during the current campaign.

Mehrtens has yet to make a decision about his future playing career.

The other players leaving the Club are prop forward Peter Cook, hookers James Hayter and Jimmy Richards, back row forward Luke Sherriff, and Academy players Adam Thompstone, Phil Burgess and Dave Millard.

"I wish all these players all the very best for the future and thank them for their efforts during their time at the Club," said Quins director of rugby Dean Richards.

"A good number of them played significant roles in helping us to get back into the Premiership at the first attempt last season, which was vitally important for the future of the club."
