NEC Harlequins roster of talented young English players has increased with the signings of prop Chris Brooker, lock James Percival and back row Phil Davies.

The trio all signed two-year contracts this week keeping them at Quins until at least June 2009.

Brooker, 20, joins Quins from Bath after helping the England Under 21 team to the 2006 Six Nations Grand Slam and representing his country at the IRB Under 21 World Championships in France last summer.

Second row Percival arrives after spending the last two years at Northampton Saints where he has battled back from a broken neck after being part of the England Under 21 2004 Six Nations Grand Slam winning team.

The injury ruled him out of action for the entire 2005/06 campaign, but he has since regained full fitness and spent much of the current season on loan at Bedford Blues.

Former Sale Shark Davies returns to Quins after an initial spell at the Stoop in the Academy during the 2000/01 season.

The 25 year-old joins the Club from French side Bayonne, where he has played for the last two seasons.

"I'm delighted to have secured the services of these three players," said Dean Richards, NEC Harlequins Director of Rugby.

"The likes of Ollie Kohn, Will Skinner, Danny Care and David Strettle were relatively unknown when they joined us last summer, but their excellent performances this season have now made them key figures within the team; I'm confident that these new additions to the squad can make a similar contribution."

In addition to the new players joining the Club, Quins have also retained the services of prop forwards Ceri Jones, Mark Lambert and Aston Croall, who have all signed new contracts.

They follow in the footsteps of England internationals Nick Easter and Strettle, as well as Jordan Turner-Hall, Mike Ross and Skinner, who all extended their current contracts earlier in the season.

"To have retained the services of so many key players from the current season bodes well for the future of Quins," said Richards.

"We're building a squad that has good competition for places and strength in-depth, as well as containing a number of the most exciting young English qualified players in the game.

"I'm very excited about what we're developing here at Quins and confident about building on our encouraging return to the top flight this season."

At this stage, Quins expect to make further announcements about new signings later in the summer.
