Dave Anderson admits that Monday's FA ruling was a massive weight of his players shoulders after his side thumped Leyton 5-2 on Tuesday.

Two goals from Steve Ferguson, a third from Roscoe Dsane, Lee O'Leary's first for the club and a Richard Butler tap in on his return to the first team after five months out with a groin injury put the icing on the cake of a very happy two days for the Kingsmeadow club after the FA slashed their controversial 18 point deduction to just three points.

And after the Leyton victory, boss Anderson said Monday's news inspired his players.

"We hoped the news about the points would give us a lift. Everybody at the club has had to deal with this for months and I thought we played with a freedom that showed we are delighted with the news.

"There was a freedom and a tempo about us that we've not had for a little while. But we've gone a goal down against the run of play - and sometimes to get out of your little slumps you have to do it the hard way.

Anderson praised his players for coming back from a goal down - but insisted a promotion assault is still far from a foregone conclusion.

"There's always a determination about our players, but they actually went out in a good mood and to come back from going a goal down was a credit to them.

"But at the end of the day it's only three points, we will put it behind us and get on with the next game on Saturday."

The Dons were shocked into action on 33 minutes when Curtis Allen's tame free kick somehow found it's way through the defensive wall and past Clark Masters to give Leyton the lead.

But three goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half gave the Dons a 3-1 lead.

First Ferguson just a minute after the opener cut inside from the lift to drill the ball past Leyton keeper Jamie Lunan to equalise.

And the Scot gave Anderson's men a 2-1 lead a minute later with a near identical goal, but this time cutting in from the right, to beat the keeper with another low shot.

Dsane converted Wes Daly's pinpoint free kick with his head on the stroke of half time to give the Dons a 3-1 lead at the break.

The Dons should have stretched their lead further through Dsane and Paul Lorraine - but it was Leyton who cut the deficit to a single goal after Dean Palmer bundled in from a yard out after Masters could only parry a long range Rio Alderton effort on 79 minutes.

But the Dons restored their two goal advantage a minute later after O'Leary glanced in Ferguson's cross and Butler rounded off the scoring after tapping in from close range a minute from time.

Alderton and Mark Sophocleous were also sent off late on for Leyton.
