Battersea Ironsides are not intent on just securing the Surrey Division One title this Saturday – captain Colin O’Keeffe wants it to be the first leg of a trophy treble.
Ironsides avenged last season’s National Junior Vase semi-final defeat to Longlevens with victory over the same team 12 months on to land a dream final slot at Twickenham on May 3.
O’Keeffe’s men will claim the league title with victory over Camberley this weekend before taking on Guildfordians in the Surrey Shield semi-final on April 18.
Should they get there the shield final takes place on May 4 – the day after the Twickenham final – and the skipper is hungry to lift all three crowns.
“We are not going to Twickenham for a jolly up. We are going there to win it,” he said.
“The priority has always been the league, but every game is a cup final now and it would be a massive treble for this club if we could do it.”
