AFC Wimbledon boss Dave Anderson has confirmed the signing of Hendon midfielder Lee O'Leary as the non-league transfer window draws ever closer.

The 21-year-old put pen to paper before Tuesday night's training session and is in contention for his Dons debut in this Saturday's top of the table clash with Hampton & Richmond Borough.

O'Leary was in impressive form as struggling Hendon beat the Dons 3-1 earlier this month - but Anderson says it was not that performance that persuaded him to bring the midfielder to Kingsmeadow.

Anderson said: "I knew about him when he was a Chertsey and he has impressed me since moving to Hendon. We were already aware of him and we've been tracking him for about six weeks and we felt that this was the right time to bring him in.

"His performance against us was excellent but even without that we would have signed him anyway. He is very confident on the ball and gets his fair share of goals so he will be a very useful addition for us."

And the Dons boss says Dons fans can expect further signings before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

"We are hoping to add another couple of players before the end of the month because we need to freshen things up a little bit - there's a chance I could bring in another striker here."

Upon signing his contract O'Leary said: "It is a real pleasure to join such a big club and I'm sure I'll enjoy every minute of it here."
