NEC Harlequins young gun Adrian Jarvis is hoping he can catch Brian Ashton's eye after fly-half rivals Toby Flood and Shane Geraghty were picked to face France at the weekend.

Quins team-mates Nick Easter and David Strettle will swap a sell-out 12,600 crowd at the Stoop for 80,000 fans at Twickenham HQ when they each pick up their second international cap on Sunday.

Easter replaces Leicester Tigers skipper Martin Corry, who switches to lock, at his favoured position of number eight, while Strettle shrugged off a dead leg to retain his place after scoring on his international debut against Ireland.

Jarvis, who bagged 15 points to go with Jordan Turner-Hall's try in Saturday's 27-22 defeat at Leicester Tigers, endured a difficult start to the current campaign but has gone on to make 22 first XV appearances, notching 250 points along the way.

The inclusion of Flood and Gerahty has left the 23-year-old considering his own England aspirations, despite feeling he still has a lot to learn in the Premiership.

"I do compare myself to these players because they are my contemporaries and I would like to think I have been considered as an option for England," he said.

"I had a bit of a shaky start to the season but I think I am beginning to play the way I was last year.

"If I can continue playing the same way, hopefully there are people who will begin to take notice.

"I came in for a bit of criticism early this season on but I think I have answered those critics and there is still alot more to come from me."

And director of rugby Dean Richards, who was delighted to see Easter and Strettle get another Six Nations call, has urged his number 10 to keep working on his game, and maybe a call would come.

"I am pretty sure Adrian is in their thoughts at the moment. He must continue to perform consistently and hopefully he will get the call," he added.

Jarvis's calmly struck long-range penalty in the final minute secured a bonus point at Leicester, but it could have been more had the visitors taken full advantage of their possession.

Second row Olly Kohn and Andy Gomarsall were both held up short of the line soon after Leicester's Andy Goode had given his side a 6-3 lead, which became 9-6 at half-time.

Seru Rabeni's try gave the home side a 14-6 lead soon after the restart, before Quins hit back when Jordan Turner-Hall's score brought Quins to within a point.

Dan Hipkiss restored Leicester's eight-point advantage and two more Goode penalties helped keep Quins at bay. Jarvis's late intervention then rescued what could prove a valuable bonus point.

On Saturday, Quins face Wasps, who have five players on England duty against France, and Jarvis believes they have a great chance of avenging September's 42-23 defeat at Adams Park.

"It is a massive opportunity for us. We have come such a long way since we last played and I think we can come away with a win," he added.

"There is a lot of confidence in the squad at the moment.

"We were pretty disappointed with the way we played last time and we want to put that right."
