Surbiton Ladies will keep faith with their young stars as they go in search of another league and cup double.
Head coach Brett Garrard’s unbeaten team secured top spot in the WHL Premier Division on Saturday with a 4-2 win at Bowdon Hightown, thanks to goals from Giselle Ansley, Emily Atkinson (two) and Jenna Woolven.
Atkinson and Woolven were at it again 24 hours later as Surbiton beat Loughborough Students 2-0 to set up a Women’s Cup final clash with Clifton at Lee Valley on April 25.
Garrard has ignored the temptation to field internationals Georgie Twigg, Sarah Haycroft, Hollie Webb and Giselle Ansley in the knock-out competitor this season.
And Twigg, right, is happy for it to stay that way.
“We have fielded U18s and U16s in the cup games this year,” she said.
“It is important these girls get that experience. You have to stick with the team that gets you to there. It would not be fair otherwise.”
