Alan Pardew has laid bare exactly what is needed to keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League.
Palace sit in the relegation places with just one win in 14 league games, and they face an in-form Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
He said: “We have a tough challenge ahead - we find ourselves in the bottom three with 18 games to go and our home is not good.
“We need to turn the home situation into a positive – and I know Selhurst Park will be jumping this weekend.
“The players need a lift, and hopefully my arrival and a couple of signings will do that, and then we can hopefully go on a run at least to safety.
“Palace had a terrific run under Tony [Pulis] last year, but, realistically, one place above relegation will be enough this year to build this club again.”
He added: “The target for safety is somewhere between 35 to 40 points, that’s what people are saying, so you have to legislate that 40 is your mark.
“There is definitely a feeling among the players that it can be done, and you need that belied.”
