Surbiton’s Mike Robinson collected the Michelin Clio Cup Series trophy at Brands Hatch on Friday and revealed getting on the start line for the championship was more by luck than judgement.
The 32-year-old secured the title at Croft last month and earned a test drive of a Team Pyro-run fourth generation Renault Clio – as raced in the Courier Connections Renault UK Clio Cup that supports the British Touring Car Championship.
“The Clio series wasn’t on my radar initially, but then the chance to race with Total Control Racing came out of the blue,” he said at the BTCC's final race weekend of the season in Kent.
“We had a fantastic season – winning the championship was the icing on the cake.”
