AFC Wimbledon boss Dave Anderson is considering a tongue-in-cheek move to exorcise the demons in the Kingsmeadow pitch he thinks are crippling his side.

The Dons chief was without nine first-choice players for Saturday's goalless home draw with Horsham, and saw striker Roscoe D'Sane pull out on the morning of the match with flu.

Luke Garrard (broken metatarsal) and Steve Wales (fractured ankle) have been ruled out for eight weeks, while Darren Grieves, Steve Watson and Richard Butler remain on the sick list.

"I don't know what is going on but a series of small knocks is just stopping players from putting a run of games together," said Anderson, who is hoping to complete the signing of a midfielder ahead of Saturday's trip to Billericay Town.

"I think the ground must have been built on a cemetery, because we seem cursed at the moment and can't seem to get everyone fit.

"Maybe we should get it exorcised."

Despite the return of Paul Barnes, the Dons couldn't find a goal against Horsham.

Anderson's men now lie ninth in the table and face three league games on the road this month - plus a glamour trip to Conference side Aldershot Town in the FA Trophy - before hosting Walton & Hersham at the end of the month.

And Anderson is hoping a cracking Christmas period of five straight wins would be the perfect way to fire his side to a place among the contenders in the Ryman League Premier Division promotion race.

"If this league says anything, it is that results continue to surprise people," he said.

"You have to keep picking up results and if we can get a run of five wins over Christmas, it would be a fantastic present."
