Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has made his first move into the transfer market by signing teenage Watford goalkeeper Jack Bonham.

The 19-year-old agreed a two-year deal today having been released by the Hornets this summer after a nightmare debut last month.

Bonham was thrust into the Championship promotion battle when Watford's first choice goalkeeper Manuel Almunia was injured in the warm-up before their final game of the season with Leeds United and his replacement Jonathan Bond was forced off after 24 minutes.

That put Bonham in goal in a match Watford had to win to beat Hull City to promotion to the Premier League but he made two blunders as Leeds won 2-1.

Having come through Watford's Harefield Academy, he now has a chance of a fresh start at Griffin Park and Bees sporting director Mark Warburton is happy to have him on board.

"We are delighted Jack has agreed to sign for Brentford," he said.

"He spent two weeks with us on trial at the back end of last season and did well.

"Jack has had an excellent Academy education with Watford, developing into a fine goalkeeper, with an international pedigree.

"He has enormous potential and will improve by being within the goalkeeping unit and working with coach Simon Royce."
