Football is not just for the young and fit, who can run until the cows come home – don’t forget, the older generation still like to play.
With that in mind, AFC Wimbledon have launched Walking Football sessions for the over 50s.
The free weekly indoor games – aimed at residents of Merton and Merton Priory Homes – have been launched for people who may not have a desire to play the game at a fast pace, but still want to partake in regular exercise and meet new friends.
The sessions, every Wednesday (between 6-8pm) at the Tooting & Mitcham Hub, last for one hour.
They are followed by an hour of social interaction and use of the Hub’s facilities. Free health advice will be available, and free travel is also provided from Merton Priory Homes.
AFC Wimbledon’s Community Football Scheme has teamed up with Merton Prior Homes and the Sutton & Merton NHS Live-Well organisation to launch the scheme.
To book yourself in for the sessions and for more information, contact the AFCW Community Football Scheme on 020 8974 5712 or e-mail us at communityfootball@afcwimbledon.co.uk.
