Crystal Palace centre back Damien Delaney has signed a new contract which will keep him at Selhurst Park until the end of the 2014 season.

The former Ipswich Town man had signed on deadline day on a short-term basis, but an impressive run of displays - including three goals - has helped the Eagles soar to the top of the Championship.

The Republic of Ireland international has never been on a losing side while wearing a Palace shirt, having made his debut in the 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday which triggered the club's 14-match unbeaten run.

Delaney has formed a tough central defence partnership with Peter Ramage, which has conceded eight goals in eight games, but has also kept three clean sheets in the past four games.

Palace face two Championship trips to Leeds United and Hull City in the next week, before the eagerly anticipated visit of Brighton & Hove Albion on December 1.
