A father who was expecting his third child took his own life after a long running battle with depression, a court heard.

Jamaine Taylor, 31, professional car paint sprayer from Morden, was found by his wife and partner of 15 years on February 10, 2013, hanging from a tree in Morden Park.

The couple had two children together and were expecting their third. At an inquest into his death at on April 26, Westminster Coroner’s Court heard how Mr Taylor had had a "difficult childhood" resulting in a history of depression for which he had received medication.

However recently Mr Taylor had converted to Christianity prompting him to refuse medication and instead trust in his religion.

The court also heard Mr Taylor had been struggling at work and was growing increasingly paranoid people were talking about him.

Coroner Dr Fiona Wilcox said there appeared to have been a "culture clash" following Mr Taylor’s conversion to Christianity whereby he no longer fitted in with the "laddish culture" of the garage.

Speaking in court Mr Taylor’s wife, Helen Esme Taylor, heavily pregnant with the couple’s third child, broke down in tears as she recalled the tragic discovery of her husband.

She said: "He changed so much as a person. "He lived a horrible life and had done drugs in his past but becoming a Christian, he changed so much into the most amazing person."

She added: "Jamaine loved me so much and he loved his children so much. He didn’t have a dad as a child and he would never have left his children without a dad if he was thinking in his right mind.

"He was amazing with our babies and he was so happy that we were having this baby."

Recording a verdict of suicide, Dr Wilcox said: "I’m satisfied that Jamaine killed himself while suffering from a depressive illness. "Had he been thinking in his rational mind this was something that he would never have done.

"He would never have left his wife alone particularly with a new baby."
