A girl fighting a paralysising condition had her dream of visiting Disneyland come true.
Megan Hierons, 10, enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime "Destination Dreams" trip to Florida earlier this month thanks to Caudwell Children, a national charity for disabled children.
The charity paid for the trip for Megan, from South Croydon, who suffers from Paraplegia caused by her pre-existing Neuroblastoma, and her family.
A team from the charity did everything from carrying the family’s bags to accompanying her older brother Jake on rides at the theme park.
Some 24 other families with disabled children also came on the trip.
Beth Hieron, Megan’s mother, said: "The best thing was that you were able to forget about the disability entirely. Caudwell planned everything out and all the other families were in the same boat.
"Nobody stared at the wheelchair and for once everything was normal – an unusual feeling! We have made lifelong friends and now have a great network of support at home. I don’t know how I can ever thank Caudwell enough."
Caudwell Children is a national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families. In 2013 it has provided over £23 million in services to over 4,000 seriously ill children.
Caudwell is urgently appealing for donations to allow them to take more young children on the Destination Dreams respite holiday in 2014. For further information and to donate visit: www.caudwellchildren.com
