A man has been arrested after someone was reportedly knocked unconscious during a 'road rage' incident in Belmont.
It is claimed two men got out of their respective vehicles after neither would give way in Station Road before getting into a ‘shouting match’, shortly after 11am on Monday (February 5).
Police attended to the incident where a man, 48, was arrested and the another man, in his 50s, was later taken to hospital.
A witness, who does not wish to be named, said: “The smaller man turned to walk back to his car and was knocked unconscious by the bigger man, who then proceeded to kick the unconscious man in the head a number of times.
“The unconscious man was taken by ambulance.”
A Met Police spokeswoman said a man suffered a head injury, however he is not in a life-threatening condition.
The 48-year-old was detained on suspicion of GBH and affray and later released under investigation while enquiries continue.
