A Sutton school has issued a warning after a female student was stopped by a man and asked a "sexual" question.

Greenshaw High School, in Grennell Road, put out a statement on its website advising students to be wary when walking to and from school following the incident last week.

"Yesterday afternoon (January 23), a female sixth form student was approached by a tall white male of average build and brown hair in Rosehill Woods.

"The male was walking through the woods towards Rosehill in the opposite direction to our student and stopped as they 'met' on the path, he asked her a question of a sexual nature and then walked on.

"The police have been informed.

"As always, please ask your children to remain vigilant when walking to and from school and report any concerns to a trusted adult."
