Kew Green’s annual charity cricket tournament was made extra special this year as it coincided with celebrations for the Queen’s jubilee.
Young and old turned out for the match on Monday, June 4, to take part in the games and helped raise more than £2,000 for charities the Friendship Club and the St Anne’s Tercentenary Appeal.
Kew Cricket Club juniors played in the morning, adult amateurs took to the pitch in the afternoon and a combined team from Kew’s Royal Botanic Gardens and event sponsor Anthony Roberts took on the Coach and Horses Hotel team in the early evening.
The Friendship Club aims to enhance recreational activities and care assistance for young people with disabilities living in Richmond and the St Anne’s Tercentenary Appeal raises funds for external repairs to the 298 year-old grade II listed church that overlooks Kew Green.
