An 18-year-old man who died in a car crash just weeks after picking up his A Level results has been described as “wonderful, vibrant and kind” by his headteacher.
Rahulan Chelliah died following a single vehicle collision in Church Lane, between Headley Common Road and Hurst Lane, in which a white Fiat Punto left the road and collided with a tree shortly before 3:30am on September 6.
The four passengers in the car, two females and two males, all aged 18, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Rahulan, who was sitting in the rear of the vehicle, died a few hours later.
The teenager was a pupil at St Andrew's Catholic School in Leatherhead and had picked up his A Level results just weeks before his death.
Headteacher Adam Brooks said it was a “privilege” to have known Rahulan.

He said: “Rahulan was an incredibly popular member of our school community. Renowned for his charismatic energy and positive attitude towards life, Rahulan was able to make friends wherever he went.
“Since his passing the love, kindness and emotion shown by members of our St Andrew's family is a testament to the strength of character that Rahulan brought to our community, it is clear that he touched the hearts of so many people.”
Having studied at St Andrew's since 2019 Rahulan achieved “some excellent academic outcomes” at both GCSE and A Level and was preparing to take up a place at Surrey University to read Accounting and Finance this Autumn.
Mr Brooks added: “In the classroom, Rahulan had the exceptional ability to combine perception, humour and flair to engage both the staff and his peers.
“Outside of lessons Rahulan had a wide-ranging group of friends, a testament to his diverse character and likable nature, to whom he was always fiercely loyal but always offered help and honest advice.
“A wonderful, vibrant and kind young man, Rahulan brought laughter, joy and happiness to St Andrew's on a daily basis and will be greatly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to spend time in his company.”
