Coronation Street bosses have revealed that one character faces the threat of being locked up after his arrest over an assault on the cobbles.

ITV has released a teaser look at all of the drama taking place in Coronation Street next week.

In those episodes, Ollie Driscoll is taken into custody on suspicion of assault after a misunderstanding at the Rovers Return.

The incident begins when Christina, who is tipsy, falls over in the back of the Rovers Return and Jake cheekily sprays his water bottle onto her.

Ollie mistakes the behaviour as a vicious attack and, in an attempt to rescue Christina, chases Jake out of the Rovers and pins him to the floor.

Gary steps in to break up the scuffle, while Christina and Glenda try to reassure Ollie that his actions were well-intentioned.

But the situation escalates when police arrive and arrest Ollie on suspicion of assault.

The storyline leaves viewers questioning whether Ollie will be able to clear his name and whether Jake will come forward with the truth about what really happened.

Elsewhere in Weatherfield, Brian is caught in an embarrassing moment.

Ben and Ollie spot a dishevelled Brian coming down the stairs, followed by Maggie.

The scene leaves them—and viewers—wondering whether the pair are starting a new romance or it was simply a one-off encounter.

Meanwhile, behind bars, Sarah is forced to take extreme measures.

After Kacey reminds her that she needs Kit’s help and shows her photos of Harry at his new friend’s house, Sarah creates a makeshift weapon.

There’s also a heartfelt farewell in store, as Nina’s friends gather to say goodbye before she leaves for Whitby with Roy.

Coronation Street continues weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV and ITVX.

Coronation Street schedule impacted by live football

Due to ITV showing League Cup matches next week, Coronation Street's usual schedule will be altered.

The broadcaster will be showing Nottingham Forest v Leeds United in round two of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, August 25.

Kick-off is scheduled for 8pm, so Coronation Street has been removed, and that episode will air on Wednesday, August 26 instead.
