The 'freaked-out' landlady of a 'haunted' pub claims footage of a glass smashing on its own could be a frustrated 'ghostly punter' angry at her closing for the night.
Georgina Sampson had waved off the last two customers at The New Wellington in Newmarket, Suffolk, on Friday Jan 18 when dad Nigel Sampson went to tidy up their table.
Footage shows an empty pint glass explode as the 63-year-old approaches, making him jump and immediately shout 'it wasn't me' to his daughter.
Georgina, 35, didn't believe him but when she checked the baffling CCTV it confirmed he hadn't even touched the glass - leaving the pair to conclude it was a ghost.
Landlady Georgina says the table where the glass smashed is known as the 'haunted table' as salt and pepper pots have been thrown off it.
She's since revealed the footage, caught around 11.30pm, 'freaked her out' and made her question if it was caused by a spirit angry that its favourite haunt was closing.
The video has been viewed more than 74,000 times with users calling it 'spooky' and declaring that's where they'd spend their time as a ghoul.
Georgina, from Newmarket, Suffolk, said: "At first I thought my dad had knocked the chair and the glass had fallen over. That's why I checked the camera.
"It completely shattered into pieces and from the video it's quite clear that nothing touches it.
"Maybe it's a ghost that was annoyed we were closing and wanted to carry on drinking.
"It freaked me out when I saw it because I'm in here quite a lot on my own late at night. It gives me the heebie-jeebies.
"My dad was shocked and even said that it's the ghost back again.
"It always seems to be that table so possibly the spirit used to drink at that table.
"Some people don't want to sit there because of this and then some people really want to sit there.
"It's a possibility it could be to do with the liquid but someone had finished drinking it moments before that and the glass would tend to break if it was hot at the moment you put the drink in it.
"That drink was sat there for maybe half an hour and we weren't busy enough to put drinks in hot glasses. We don't need to do that because we have enough glasses.
"People think I'm crazy when they tell them and they try to put a logical answer to it but I don't think there is.
"Apparently it's quite common for pubs to draw spirits in because the doors are always open and it's a happy place. It's quite common."
Georgina claims relatives who have stayed there often feel there's someone behind them and thought a ghost was sitting at the foot of their bed in December.
The landlady, who has owned the family-run pub for 13 years, says she's had customers come request to sit on the 'ghost table'.
She says the 19th century pub used to be the servants headquarters for a nearby mansion but was converted into a pub when The Wellington pub nearby closed its doors.
The 35-year-old, who insists she's too busy to fake TikTok videos, captions the clip: 'Is our ghost back again?
"It's been a while and the popping glasses are back. It had just been drunk and didn't move. And [it's at] the usual ghostly table!"
One commented: "This is spooky!"
A second said: "Let's face it, if I come back as a ghost, where do you think I'm spending all my time?"
