Fans of the popular soaps EastEnders and Emmerdale have been left disappointed as the regularly scheduled shows are impacted by the World Cup.

This comes as the football tournament in Qatar is being aired on both ITV and BBC, seeing the two popular shows move to different times and channels.

ITV's Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm but now the show will move to the earlier time of 7pm and only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

Elsewhere, the BBC soap EastEnders will also have an amended air time due to World Cup coverage.

Seeing the London-based show lose its Friday evening installments.

Plus, EastEnders will also have a channel switch for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week along with moving to BBC Two.

What channel is the World Cup on in the UK?

BBC and ITV will be sharing coverage of this year’s World Cup, broadcasting every game live across BBC1 and ITV1.

You can also catch the action on BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub.

BBC aired England’s first Qatar match against Iran on Monday, November 21.
